An Abuser, with no outside victim, abuses himself. He sets himself limits and protocols which have no logic. It is this lack of logic which distinguishes an abuser.
The man who, like George ‘restricts’ his emails, preventing himself from intellectual stimulation, is the archetypal abuser. With no one to abuse, withno one to confine, limit, demean, he creates rules and regulations against himself.
That he had no one to talk to, that he lived in horrid circumstances, was not taken into consideration. He could only write two emails to a month.
By recognising the protocols of George one can extrapolate to others. The restriction the Abuser enforces against himself never have a sensible or logical reason. It isn’t the guy who only drinks one beer, or the woman who will only take one brownie. It is a restriction, which like George’s email ‘diet’, makes no sense and only punishes him.
When you meet someone who has various restrictions and no sensible explanation, be alert. This is likely to be an abuser without a victim.
