There is a very special angel in Dustin’s and Dad’s garden. This time of year all of the blooms are gone and the leaves are falling from the trees. But the angel remains. I caught a photo of the angel with raindrops and thought it was very surreal in black and white.
A striking change from the photos in the spring with the roses surrounding the angel. But seasons change and time forces us to change with it. I know spring will come again and there will be more blooms. But for now I will bask in the surrealism of the winter angel and the raindrops.
My angel my son, your presence is everywhere,
I know you can hear me, I sense you all around me,
I love you and miss you.
Until we meet again, I send all my love up to you.
Such a touching tribute to two dear Heavenly Souls, in your life. Angels are so dear to me as well!
Thank you Michelle. We have all lost loved ones and it never gets easier.
Mad me sniffle it was so touching
Thank you LaJenna, more broken hearted words.
The presence of your angel never drops a second. He also kneels beside that special white angel to say his eternal love to you, as well as his infinite gratitude for having someone like you.
You are a wise man Albert and I am thankful to have you as a connection… your words made my difficult day tolerable.
Solemn and very poetic in thought
Thank you, that is exactly how I feel.
Heartfelt tribute. And I totally agree with the message.
Thanks Jackie, the garden in my backyard is a tribute to my son.
I don’t know why reduction to greyscale should make an image more surreal, but you’re right- it does!
I think only certain photos do well in gray scale. This one for instance, it represents so much about my son, the afterlife, etc. When it is in color, you take away the simplicity of all that it represents, just my opinion. I love color photos, but sometimes you need to tone it down to get the full meaning.
Agreed. There is also desaturation to consider, along with sepiatone and cobalttone. Not that this piece needs anything else, more like something to consider in the future…
Yes, I was trying to hold onto the presence of the raindrops. Sepia sort of wiped them out.
It may have done you a favor, the greyscale version is much stronger in my opinion…
Thank you for your input as always Alex.
Very moving post! May this angel always watch over you!
Thank you Ellie, I have a feeling it will forever.
