While cycling from downtown Chicago, I took an alternative route back to my apartment and encountered this interesting sculpture at Jesse White Community Center Park. The title of this sculpture is ‘Compensate’ by Abiola Akintola, who is a Nigerian-born artist. Abiola has worked both as a painter and sculptor; he uses a variety of materials, including paint, metal, wood, clay, and discarded objects that he finds on the street. His interest in working with found objects, such as discarded soda cans from which he extracts shredded metal, has given him the label of “the Green Revolution Artist.”
As for these photos they were taken with a Samsung Galaxy S8, and shared as part of the 365 Photos Challenge, which the rules and guidelines are listed if you would like to participate.
I love this sculpture! I wish to see something like this in my city, but unless I do it myself, there’s little chance it will happen ☺
And you could definitely do this. I would love to build a mini house with silverware
Great ideea! My imagination is flying right now, this could be amazing actually. Think about the endless variations, I love it ??
Cool! Please share 🙂
Maybe if I make some sketches ?. I have little to no time unfortunately, so I don’t think I’ll do it soon. But I have this on my to do list, it’s a must! ?
Very nice! If I can find some cheap silverware at a thrift I would not mind attempting to put together something small
It’s a very beautiful and detailed sculpture for being made of discarded materials. Kudos to Abiola Akintola and thank you for sharing. 🙂
Thank you for stopping in and commenting. Seeing this sculpture just makes me want to create things with the utensils in my apartment ♡
Hehe, yes, I see how it can be inspiring. 😀
I’ve never heard of it.
Yay! I’m happy you like because I have plenty more pending. Outside of many things going on in my life I’m trying to capture many throughout the city.
Cool photos. Where is this park located? I’ve never heard of it.
Never mind. I looked it up. I’m not in that neighborhood a lot – I live in Edgewater – but I’m definitely going to check it out the next time I am.
Parking is crap in the area, so if you do visit it you’ll have to do a quickie by parking on the side of the road. It’s a amazing sight up close
Thanks for the heads up.
What a fantastic photo, wow the detail is incredible.
Yes, indeed Carol. Now this is a sculpture that many of us could try and put together : )
This photo should make all your readers feel like they can do anything. Very powerful post!
Makes me feel like I can be a gymnast : )
