If this seems like a really odd title you must not have read this post. You might want to check it out before you continue!
I have a whole new appreciation for butterflies and I hardly wait till summer comes again to see how much I remember when they suddenly show back up in my yard.
I had no idea that when a butterfly gets outs of his little cocoon his first task is to put together his mouth! It is a good thing it must just be instinct. They drink all their food and so they have to put two parts together to make their “straw-mouth”. Then somehow he has to wiggle and struggle and stretch to get his wings to spread out.
When I read that butterfly wings are transparent I just knew that couldn’t be true. However after reading from several sources they are transparent. They are covered with scales that simply reflect light differently.
Watch this amazing video and enjoy.

Yes indeed, butterflies are absolutely stunning! I feel my son’s presence when they are around with their angel wings. 😉
That is so amazing. I am really glad you shared that.

I am glad that you love butterflies.
I enjoy butterflies, too. When I start seeing swallowtails, I know that spring has finally sprung.
Wow, I didn’t know that either. I have seen them hatch, dry out, but never knew they had to put their mouth together. Amazing.
