The botanical name of this tree is Phanera purpurea . It is commonly called camel’s foot tree because of the hoof like leaves. Its also called the orchid tree or butterfly tree. This is one of my favorite trees. Its rather short just about 25-30 feet in height normally and blooms abundantly. These fragrant blooms attract bees and butterflies by the hoards.
This is a favorite with landscapers. The flowers carpet lawns with their beautiful petals everyday.
This picture was taken in the early hours of the day and the lighting and shadows on this flower give depth to the picture.

I’ve seen it. There are many small flowers.
The ones we have here has 2-3 inch sized flowers. Rather large I would say.
