A lot of people confuse fruits and vegetables. This isn’t helped by the fact that many stores sell vegetables in the fruit section of produce or the other way around. How good are you at identifying which is which?

Interesting quiz. Got 5 out of 10.
That isn’t a bad score at all.
Really awesome
7 out of 10, great quiz!
Good job! That is a high score!
All correct – you didn`t catch me there, Rex!
Great job! The information probably wasn’t new at all to you, though.
Corn-on-the-cob is an interesting one in this context. Presumably the husk is the `fruit`, given that the seeds form on its surface, similar in a way to the strawberry, which I believe is officially called an `achene` rather than a fruit, for that very reason. So is the corn husk an achene?
Technically, I suppose that corn would be a grain. It is a kind of grass, after all. It is interesting that sugar cane, also a kind of grass, would be a vegetable because it is the stalk that is consumed.
6. This reminds me of the saying ‘Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.’
LOL…I’d not heard that before. Then again, I know people who sprinkle sugar on sliced tomatoes. I’ve never tried it, though I sometimes use salt. It is interesting, too, that green salad sometimes tastes great with some grapes, pineapple, oranges, or apple added.
8 out of 10 😀
8 of 10 is really good!
5/10
Which ones did you miss?
Uh oh, I do not remember anymore 🙁
Haha…that’s okay.
Got 6! 🙂
Great! Which ones did you miss?
I’m waiting for your posts … I’m really interested in clarifying the differences 🙂
@vidocka, the post is done and submitted, it is just awaiting moderation. I expect it to show up sometime late tonight or very early in the morning.
Got 6 out of 10…was surprised by a few
@vidocka Which are you surprised about? I’ll have an article about the easy way to tell the difference between fruits and vegetables because a lot of people also get surprised by this.
Pumpkin, cucumber, pepper and chilli 🙂
I can understand why they’d be surprising. Once the article I wrote posts that explains the difference, it will become clear.
Got 7 out of 10…was surprised by a few
Which ones were you surprised about?
The cucumber and chili pepper
Yep, a lot of people are surprised by those two.
I got another one wrong earlier but I forget which one it was. But those were the most puzzling to me lol.
7 correct
That is pretty good, really!
10 out of 10! Good quiz, but although you say, “many stores sell vegetables in the fruit section of produce or the other way around,” it makes more sense to keep savoury items with savoury items, and sweet items with sweet. Tomatoes and chillies may be fruit, but they’re an unlikely presence in a dessert 🙂
You have a really good point there, though some of the best jam I’ve ever tasted was blackberry jalapeno jam. 🙂 It sounds strange putting hot peppers and blackberries together, but the result is fabulous.
Got 9 here.. fruits has seeds, while vege dont have..!
That is close, anyway. However, corn that we eat is the seeds. I’ll try to write an article to explain the difference.
4/10 I always thought pumpkins were vegetables Lol
You certainly aren’t alone in that. What surprises even more people is that pumpkins are very closely related to cucumbers and watermelons. 🙂
hi
Yayyy 6 out of 10,, thank you I learned
Learning is always a good thing. 🙂 I might write an article that explains in fairly simple terms what the difference is.
