As I mentioned in one of the previous postings, in the outdoor museum in Škofja Loka we can also see a mill. Featured craft mill with a milling machine and stop and cereals, which were once planted in the Loka. The first mention of the mill at Loka can be found in the deed of gift from the year 973. The first mills, registered in the land register in 1291, stood by the river Sora and were owned by the landowner. The town is its natural location and water power enabling various craft activities: milling, sawing, leather, linen, etc. Unfortunately, there are no more these crafts today.

I love seeing seeing old factories, buildings and mills. They are like history lessons.
I agree. If we did not have similar museums, we would forget about the past
Enjoy outdoor museums very much!!! Wish to visit Loka in the future!!!
Outdoor museums are really special
Thank you … I also like to visit such places very much
Very beautiful, looks like an art work.
Thank you … It really is very interesting
It’s really wonderful I’ve never seen it before?️?️?️?️?️
Thank you so much. The place is really gorgeous.
A very interesting photo you found. I have not seen one before. I have seen a grist meal, where cornmeal is made.
Thank you, Carol. In such mills were used to grind the corn.
In Bulgaria there is a similar open-air museum of architecture and ethnography. They show how old craft work is done. I’m glad you and you are introducing us to the Open-Air Museum Loka.
Thank you very much for your kind comment. We are fortunate enough to have such museums and children can see little history.
What a cool picture you captured! I love mills. My wife is a huge cornmeal fan, and the mill near where we used to live, would actually grind the cornmeal in the old stones of the mill as you waited.
I agree. Those mills would surely grind the corn. Unfortunately, we only have them in museums.
Most of ours are as well, they have one in southern Indiana that they keep operating. It is often not working, as the grinding stones break.
This outdoor museum must be really interesting, dear Vida
It’s true. It’s worth taking a look
It’s best to invite me and see each other, my dear Vida … you will be my guide
No problem, we’ll agree….
