Mărțișor is an old tradition celebrated all over Romania every year, on March 1st. The name Mărțișor is a diminutive of March. It is a symbol of the coming spring.
Mărţişorul is a small object with a red and white string with hanging tassels, customarily given on the 1st day of March.Women and girls wear it pinned to their clothes, close to the heart, until the last day of March, when they bind it to a branch of fruit trees.
Happy Mărțișor, dear friends! Bring the spring in your life and soul … open your wings and try to fly … close your eyes and try to dream … is not that wonderful?

Very interesting. I seem to have read this tradition from someone here, unfortunately I don’t remember it properly, but maybe Ellie.
Of course I don’t celebrated it but enjoy and imagine how that tradition is celebrated there.
As I know, celebrate Mărțișor
As far as I know, Bulgarians celebrate Martisor. Maybe Ellie or Elenka have written about it.
Yeah! Maybe both of them…
In our country, we do not know this celebration
Wow this is great to know. Love the quote at the end.
We celebrate it in Bulgaria, but here everybody wears the ornaments. It’s one of my favorite traditions.
It was the same in Romania, many years ago. Nowadays only women and children wear it.
Interesting celebration, I’ve never heard of it before. ?
Thank you so much for sharing this celebration. I needed one today. You made a difference.
You are very welcome!
