About this year’s US Open between Serene Williams and Nomi Osake is the least talked about in tennis. No articles about the victory of Osaka, on its way from the tennis origins to the finals of the US Open. The main thing was Serena’s argument with the judge and a few later discussions with him during the match. Although Serena is sentenced with a very small amount of money, many people feel that the punishment should be much greater and that she must apologize to the judge and the rivals.
Congrats, Nomi Osaka, you were excellent in final. I wish you good luck on next tournament.

Dreadful woman.Calling the ump racist and sexist because she was losing, trying to put the girl off
Isn’t it strange that when female athletes speak up and out and throw a tantrum we demonize them, but when the male athletes do much worse we idolize them. It is 2018 and time for attitudes to change and stop the double standard. Way to go Serena. I also am sorry that Osaka had her moment of triumph messed up but there is never a “good” time to speak up against injustices.
It’s okay when they speak about that. I support that and those problems needs to be solved. But she started conversation unrelated with match and that is problem.
In my view Serena did not realize that famous old saying “What does not kill make me only makes me stronger.” By acting the way she did playing the role “I am the best.” or “Do you know who I am?” she did not focus on adjusting her tennis game as use the penalties as a way of showing “Me versus the world” is why I am the best tennis player.
Sports are based on controversy like Serena’s temper tantrum took away Naomi’s dream come true that she is first Japanese tennis player to win a tennis major title.
Serena can not accept that she has lost because her opponent was better! She tries to find the blame elsewhere! Unlike her, Simona Halep accepts and admits when the opponent is better.
She will have more and more problems lately. She is strong, but years taking it’s part and more young girls have target to take down best.
This is sports, so whatever happened be sports anyway the world judges more.
Correct. Nice comment. Serena should read it.
yes, now she is being judged by the worst judge of all, PEOPLE. Her actions are now noted and tainted her as a person
You can’t hide in time of social media. Those videos will always be somewhere as reminder.
Yes and specially to them who are always in the limelight it is now difficult to get back again on a good image.
I do not see how the umpire did anything wrong. He saw an incident of coaching and issued a warning. It does not matter whether he was right in his observation or not – which was what Serena claimed. Even if she thought that the umpire was wrong, all she had to do was make sure that nothing of the sort happened at any future point. Had she done that, the incident would have been quietly forgotten about.
She also has no claim to make about sexism. The umpire is known to be strict about this and has reprimanded players and coaches in the past, both men and women.
In a word – Serena is completely in the wrong about this, and it was inexcusable for her to ruin the occasion for her opponent – as she eventually realized.
Worst is that she start later discussion, without any reason. She just wanted fight.
I agree with Shavkat about this topic.
I think she is not a sporty person.
She has hard time to accept that she will lose more and more matches in her career.
In time, it would definitely happen.
