Hostas ~ In Carol's Garden

Hostas are starting to show themselves in my garden. This section is in the front yard garden. I look forward to these, like the rest of the flowers and plants every year. Another perennial. Cut it back at the end of the season and it comes back bigger each year. I separate it when I cut it back and have more plants. This type is variegated. There is also a type with solid green leaves. I prefer the variegated. But I have both and they look well together, the compliment each other.

I did not know this until recently but the Hosta is a genus of plants commonly known as hostas, plantain lilies (particularly in Britain) and occasionally by the Japanese name giboshi. Hostas are widely cultivated as shade-tolerant foliage plants.

  1. Love its bright green… very pleasing to see!!
I don’t think I’ve seen a Hostas before or probably just me not paying enough attention to plants around me…

  2. I have never grown hostas, but the more I hear about them the more interesting they become. Every home needs a few plants that do well in shade.
