Saturdays Critters – a variety of birds.

I have become very tired today but the thumbnail is our regular visitor, our Pukako named “Pipatea” or else “Pete!” We will find out if it is a female by spring, by the little young ones or lack of them.

#1 Lake Hakanoa

Canadian Geese, they seem to have an order ..

#2 Sparrow

Did a bird survey for NZ research for an hour..There were 20 sparrows on the lawn this morning, 3 starlings, one Pukako, 2 turtledoves and 2 Blackbirds. 12 Ducks near us but in the park, 3 seagulls flying overhead.

#3 Young Starling

This one was not on our lawn this morning.

#4 Turtledove

I found out these are also called "Spotted Doves."

#5 Male Blackbird

He did not stay for long..A flying visit!

I always associated New Zealand with sheep but from now on it will be birds – thanks to your several posts showcasing them.

The pictures are awesome. Do you have any favorite rugby teams in New Zealand? I ask because ESPN has begun to show games in the USA

They are beautiful birds, Pamela. I love the baby Starling. It’s so cute, as all the birds are!
