For someone interested in traveling on the footsteps of Romanian history, the city Târgovişte is certainly an interesting destination. Capital from 1396 to 1714, Târgovişte held for more than three centuries the status of the most important economic, political-military and cultural-artistic center of the Romanian Country. The city of Târgovişte is also recognized for its special churches, true monuments of art, some dating from the medieval period.
One of these churches is the Metropolitan Church. The church is built in Byzantine style, in brick, with open porch, supported by 12 columns and is shaped like a Greek cross.
Located in the city center, in the Park that bears its name, the Târgovişte Metropolitan Church reveals to the visitors part of the city’s history. Not just a tourists attraction, but a real landmark of the old fortress, the beautiful church welcomes its visitors with a smile that remembers the elegance of old times.
