Chicago, Illinois (Edgewater neighborhood)
Nikon Coolpix P7700
Editing was done with On1 Photo RAW 2020 Beta. In Develop mode under Tone I increased contrast, whites and structure, opened up the shadows slightly and decreased the highlights, midtones and blacks. I used the Auto option for Color and the High option for Details. Then I added the following filters: HDR Look (Glow), Dynamic Contrast (Natural) and Color Enhancer (Fall).

What a stunning edit, as always.
Thanks, Carol. I’ve been sitting on the photo for a while trying to figure out what to do with it.
Great capture. I find tree roots quite fascinating.
Me too. Patterns in nature have always fascinated me.
ON1? that’s my suite, too! I’m still using 2019- how is the beta working out for you?
I actually use four different apps depending on what I want to accomplish: ACDSee Ultimate Luminar (currently Flex which will soon be replaced by Luminar 4), On1 and Affinity Photo. Each has their strengths and weaknesses.
I just got 2019 about a month and a half ago since buying it then got you a free upgrade to 2020. I had no problems at all with the 2020 Beta but the official version was released this morning and I just installed it. I haven’t had a chance to look at it yet.
Have you checked out Jim Nix’ On1 videos? They are excellent.
going to have to check them out. don’t forget to grab the NIK collection
I had that when Google owned it and it was free.
lemme know if you want any of my presets
Those with an eye for art will not miss those curvy roots. I had used them while making dry flower arrangements.
Thank you for the kind words, Grace.
Lovely photo and composition
Thanks, Pamela. I’m glad you liked it.
