Somehow, one of my brothers, believed the old-wives-tales my dad had told us 50 years ago were true and when I asked him about, he says he found out years ago that my dad had been pulling our legs about it but that some of those, even now, still make him apprehensive when he comes into contact with them, here they are:
Eating:
* Carrots help to see in the dark
* Crusts (of bread) make your hair curly
* Cheese makes you dream
* Don’t eat the end of a banana as the seed can grow in your tummy (he still doesn’t eat them…)
* Apple a day keeps the doctor away (he eats a lot of apples)
* Trying new foods 3 times is the only way to know if you like it

most of mine I would say are fact based in the sense that i learned something years ago in school only to find out later it had been corrected. those are always a little jarring for me.
Yes, I’m sure they would be more than a little jarring to me as well. I often wonder how God views a so-called “willful sinner” let me explain that. Imagine a church minister talks convincingly about God and his kingdom, while he knows full well that he is blatantly lying to his congregation with every word coming from his mouth since he hasn’t a clew about God or his realm, just curious.
there is much in this world that is untrue. it in the end makes me sadder than anything. Your example is exactly one that I have both experienced and one that makes me very frustrated.
