Has been awhile since I shared a butterfly from Dustin’s garden. I see many different species of butterflies.
This one is called a Variegated Fritillary. I enjoy each one that visits. A special presence they bring each time.
Unable to survive freezing weather, it is common in the south, but sometimes ventures as far north as New England and Canada. Adults migrate from the south in the spring, and then back south as winter approaches.
Seems that each year I learn of a different species. This one comes often, but others are new. I will share more later.

i love the picture. I would love to see one in person!
Thanks, I wish you could as well. Maybe one day on one of your walks.
i saw three butterflies today in the field area. two were monarchs the other was a smaller one I have to look up.
A beautiful butterfly. I wonder how these fragile animals endure such a long journey.
Thanks, I always enjoy the visitors in Dustin’s garden. It is amazing how they survive.
