The umbrella is an all-year round object in our tropical country. When the sun is searing hot, women usually have the umbrella over their head. When it rains, the umbrella is the main protection and not the raincoat or parka. It is fortunate that the umbrella is cheap that almost anyone can buy.

I use it when it rains, but we have them in the car at all times.
Yeah when there is rain or Temp goes up to 35 C
I hardly go out when it rains and in summer I have a hat and cooling glasses.
we walk outside with our dogs every day and often take umbrellas with us!
