Anarkali was a famous character of 16th century. She was born in a shaikh family. Her original name was Sharif un nissa and was also known as Nadira Begum. Her father name was Ghias Beg and mother name was Jillo Bai.
Akbar named her Anarkali. During her first performance in Lahore, Prince Salim fell in love with her and it became apparent that she was also in love with him. The Prince informed his father of his intention to marry Anarkali and make her the queen. But his father disapproved the wish of his son.
It is said that Emperor of Mughal Empire and father of Prince Saleem, Emperor Akbar ordered to burried her alive in the wall in 1599, where she died.
After the death of Emperor Akber, Prince Salim (Jahangir) became king and he built a tomb in honour of Anarkali which show us how deeply affected he was by her death.
