Certainly, many of you have already seen them, in one form or another. I’m talking about living statues. The term living statue refers to a mimic artist who can stand for hours at a time as a statue, usually with a makeup that gives it the color of gold, bronze or copper.
Beyond the attempts of some amateurs, the living statue is an authentic art form, being part of the so-called street art. Performances of living statues, so beloved by the public, were an important component in a festival held in my city. Of course I didn’t miss the opportunity to take some pictures that I want to share with you and with The Friday in Black and White Challenge.

I have not seen this before but I think it impressive
This happened during a festival hosted by our city. It was really impressive.
I have never seen any in person. Great photo. I could never stand still long enough
They are professionals! They are trained to do this.
Ah! You have inspired me, Ileana! For the past year, there have been people who have carried out this street art to earn money by standing in the middle of the road between opposing currents, usually on a traffic jam. There are at least two points where they are usually located, of course by holding a hat or can.
These are probably the amateurs I was talking about. But there are professionals who make extraordinary shows. For example, the theme of this show was “Gesture”.
You are right, they must be amateurs because they are doing it merely to get money from drivers who pass by, they are street art buskers.
I saw live statues for the first time this year on my vacation. The statues are unique.
They are great artists, endowed with great power of concentration and patience!
I totally agree. It took me quite a while to figure out that these were not real statues.
I have seen one but only on television. Would love to see it live. Incredible!
The resemblance of these artists to some authentic statues is amazing. It’s a delight to watch them!
