Tastes like heaven, smells like hell

The title is the description of durian, the exotic fruit from the tropical countries particularly Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia. In Singapore, durian is a delicacy that stores are open 24/7 for customers who are fond of the exotic fruit. Stores have benches and tables like the al fresco plus a faucet to wash the hands.

Durian is very expensive because it is planted down south in our country. It is also not easy to harvest for the trees are tall and the fruit is not easily handled with the long pointed thorns. Sellers would usually open the fruit and place the edible part on carton packs for the customer’s convenience. Now the durian fruit is not seen outside because of the lockdown issues.
