Take a Break

Many people are tied to their job and have to be in a certain position, physically during their shift. In this type of job it is very important to take regular breaks so you will be attentive and efficient with your work. You need to get moving, have a change of scenery and maybe even a little nutrician.

To help put it in perspective, take a look at how school works. There are recesses for the young. When students get older that is time as they move from one class to another. They get up, move around, have social interactions and this prepares them for what comes next.

Here are some ideas to help you have productive breaks. Take a quick walk with a coworker and “don’t” talk about work. Talk about anything “but” work.

Find a quiet place and practice some deep breathing.

Bring a book and do some light reading.

Listen to some music.

Have a healthy snack.

Move around and see the world from a different perspective.

  1. I use to work for Walmart, and everyone was told that they had to take breaks. I REALIZE why breaks are important now, but back then I thought I needed to be at work not taking breaks. I had many things to do, and not enough hours to get it all done lol.
