Life can seem stark and colorful at the same time. On new year’s day my husband and I felt kind of odd spending the day all by ourselves. Both our boys were not with us ( this is the first time we experienced this) and our home felt like a strange place. We took a drive around the city looking at the decorations and as the sun was about to set we drove by the pond, we were kind of late by a few seconds to catch the sunset, but we did get an awesome view. We got down to grabbing a few pictures of the magic of sunset.
The shadows and the reflections at the pond made us want to sit down and consider life. We agreed that this is how the rest of our lives could be , just us. We spent sometime reminiscing about the lovely times we have had together as a family and as a couple and we were so grateful to have each other. We have similar interests ( not necessarily the same) and we often take inspiration from each others work. We love to work together and that could be our real strength.
Our discussion and reflection made us feel so much better as we left the place. We had dinner in a fancy restaurant , and life seemed to be magical once again.

We have to take life as it comes and be grateful for the moments. Lovely photo.
Absolutely , no point in feeling bad that the good times have gone by.
Time is running too fast. We are not even aware of this and are already left alone. I experienced that too.
So true Vidocka, time slips past us so fast that we don’t even realize it.
Pondering about life can lead to better tomorrows.
I cannot agree with you more. I love to reflect on life everyday.
I tend to reflect on life every day and it’s a good thing in my opinion. Sitting down and thinking can help us become more grateful.
True, it helps us plan better and face our tomorrows with more preparedness.
This is a really beautiful picture, dear Dawn
Thank you dear Lado, It was a beautiful evening.
It’s important that you have a great time and enjoy a beautiful sunset, dear Dawn
you are in the place we will be in a couple of years. The reality of an empty nest!
i have many friends that feel/felt the same way you’ve expressed. It is hard. i like your end question being grateful is the best way forward!
I didn’t expect to reach the empty nest stage so soon. It kind of happened before we knew . But I am glad that we have each other and maybe its time to relive those early days of our romance 😀
we’ve been taking time every weekend to do something we love, without the kids around. Tandem biking, boating, movies. Just get away and do something for us!!!
We’ve got to do more of it too. Thanks Doc for sharing.
