I recently posted a poll … Hawk vs Kestrel. For some reason the system did not add my photo or my poll questions. So I am trying again. Not sure if it will work but here goes! This hawk or kestrel (not sure which one) was on my backyard bluebird house. I will keep my eyes open to see if he returns, hopefully not, but I am trying my best to protect these bluebirds. Birds are a big part of their diet.

Both hawks and kestrels are raptors, but my understanding was that hawks will grab their prey from the air, while kestrels prefer to snatch prey from the ground…
Yes that is correct Alex, I just could not get close enough to this one to see his details, but I am thinking red tail hawk.
I’m not saying your bluejays are safe from kestrels, but they’re safer than they are from hawks

Just reposted again and no cover photo. Do not understand because the system usually requires you to have a cover photo to even save a post or publish it. And NO COMMUNICATION is driving me nuts KIm.
