Harvesting is done once in three months. After keeping whatever we need for the house the rest is sold. There is good demand for coconuts but the price varies depending on the season.
We sometimes harvest tender coconuts for our own consumption. Tender coconut water is good for health specially if one has a urinary infection. Those with kidney infection however should not take it as it is packed with potassium which is bad for infected kidneys.
There are no coconut palms here. I am not a big fan of coconut but do enjoy having it grated on cake and icings.
Coconut is used practically every day in our kitchen.
We don’t have coconut palms but I like coconuts and always have. We import ours from the Pacific islands..However we don’t buy them as they are hard to open and sometimes expensive.
You may get scraped coconut in packets as also desiccated. Desiccated is not so good though. When I was with my niece holidaying in the US she would buy coconut juice for making curries.
Poll question is midding. Do you have coconut palms where you live?
