We have had this lawn since several years We do not need to mow the lawn, We just clear the lawn of all weeds. We rake it and then put a layer of fertile soil over it.
This method has saved us from planting the lawn afresh as is done in many gardens. It is a joy to walk on this lawn. Walking barefoot in a lawn they say is good for health. Since it is on the terrace we have no fear of any reptiles or other critters bothering us there.
This grass does not need mowing as you can see it turns into clumps and maintains the height. It also has the tendency to multiply
One needs to take care of leakages on terraces and for that a thick rexine sheet is laid and over it we have spread sand and brick pieces.

Such beautiful greenery! It’s amazing that you can go barefoot there without worries!
Absolutely. I have never seen anything there so far
It looks great only I would never go barefoot there, dear friend
Our lawn is safe for walking barefeet.
I don’t know if you would trust, dear friend …. what kind of snake can get into your garden quickly
Â
So far no snake has been seen there
You never know, my dear friend … with us we say that caution is the mother of wisdom
I have no space for a lawn here. I need my veggie, herbs and flowers here. That is my priority. I have my idea of a lawn . I was planning to do a post on that but I’ll do that after Christmas I guess.
Your garden if I might say so is more productive than mine!!
That is a great idea, Grace. I do love walking barefoot in the grass, though I must wait till spring before I can do it here!
That is one issue you guys have to deal with
But on the other hand, we don’t have to worry about snakes and stuff hiding in the grass, any time of year 🙂
I thought snakes and stuff need no passport to travel (lol)
But they need land – they can’t cross the sea to Ireland, which is an island. Legend has it that Saint Patrick, who brought Christianity here in the 5th century, drove all of the snakes into the sea, but I believe that is a metaphor for getting rid of pre-Christian religions. In any case, there are no snakes here at all 🙂
Whatever the explanation logical or otherwise I am glad you have no snakes ?
