Crocus is a perennial plant of the Iridaceae family. It is spread from the Eastern Mediterranean to Central Asia.
The stem is partly hidden underground and during flowering there are several sharp, green leaves. Its colors can be blue, violet or with pale orange-yellow colors. Some species are spring-flowering and others are flowering in autumn.
There are about 40 species of crocuses, most of which are cultivated. They meet nine, with different species having different preferences for environmental conditions.
