We have a lawn on the terrace and a few pots with roses and alamanda. This lawn needs least maintenance. The only thing we need to do is to get rid of weeds from time to time.
This lawn keeps the hall downstairs pretty cool. That was one of the reasons why we developed this garden on the terrace.
At the time of constructing the house I had asked the engineer to increase the thickness of the slab by half an inch to take the load of the soil and also to maintain a slope to take care of water retention.
Terrace lawns use a technique to safeguard leakage of water and for that one first needs to have a rexine sheet below on which brick pieces and sand is spread and over that rich soil is laid for the lawn to grow.

Those questions are not so yes and no. Do I have a lawn? Well, kind of maybe. Do I have a gardener? Yes, it’s me!
I meant a gardener who you pay to do your job (lol) One can always comment here if questions do not have answers. ?
I know. My yard is funny. There are wild animals out there all the time. I also have deer that trim my trees. I don’t need to duck to walk under them. When I’m in the yard I have to be mindful of stepping in deer poop. They garden for free like me. (lol)
With all those wild animals roaming around, do you still call it a garden? (lol)
Well not really, no. People here have fenced areas or greenhouses for gardens. I will fence a garden at some point. The first things I added here: rosemary and lemon grass.
We have a lawn but no gardener. You have a lovely yard and a good entry for the green challenge.
