Kim has suggested that we can even combine colours. I have this photo where you can see a performance This is known as ‘tiger dance’ normally performed during Dasara a celebration that lasts for 10 days
Some of the actors in the photo are known to me – one is our gardener and a couple are neighbours. They go from house to house performing this dance and we gift them with money. It is not just the tiger dance but there are other performances too
You can watch the dance here”

These are some amazing costumes! Thank you for including a video, it seems like a lot of fun!
They have actually painted their bodies
I ment that as part of the costumes, it’s really awesome.
These actors actually suffer as the paint stays on there for 10 days
A very interesting celebration. We don’t have that celebration.
The entire city comes to life when they are seen all over with drums beaten
Is this a record in the yard of your house? There are several similar holidays here in Spain. We have a similar holiday in my homeland. Little information about this tradition in Bulgaria. The mummers appeared in honor of the coming new year during Sirni Zagovezni, ie. at the beginning not of the calendar year, but of an agricultural year, related to the plowing of the fields. The custom of Kukerstvo symbolizes the departure of winter and the return of new life with the onset of warm days and is one of the oldest in our lands, dating back to 6000 years ago.
Yes. They were dancing in our yard.
I notice every country has traditions and it is amazing yours dates back to 6000 years!!
Very interesting. I like this tiger dance. Do they earn good money dancing???
They go from house to house for 10 days and that would surely give them an opportunity to earn
I like how they are decorated. We do have such colourful traditional dances in our country.
They put up with that paint for 10 days.
So, they perform for 10 days.
Yes they do and earn quite a bit!
Different places in the Philippines have different festivals that involve tribal dances. Some of the most popular and colorful are: Sinulog – of Cebu, Panagbenga (Flower Festival) of Baguio City, Maskara Festival of Bacolod City, Ati-atihan of Kalibo.
Usually, the celebration runs about 3-7 days.
Would you like to talk about it in any of your posts?
