Gladys Taber was prolific author whose output includes plays, essays, memoirs and fiction. I find one of her quotes about Christmas oddly insightful. I read it several times and wondered what I could learn from it. I was drawn to it and not certain why.
“Christmas is a bridge. We need bridges as the river of time flows past. Today’s Christmas should mean creating happy hours for tomorrow and reliving those of yesterday.”
Eventually I realized I was drawn to it because it teaches about traditions. I grew up with very specific traditions surrounding Christmas. My grandchildren have not, because their families had no traditions. I need to help them build traditions of there own.
