Happy May Day

Traditions are interesting and many hold them dear.  I have never celebrated May Day and I found lots of the things that people used to do to celebrate. I vaguely remember we tried to do the May pole thing at school, but we were hindered by the snow and lack of coordination.

I did find it interesting that long ago in Scotland they used to honor their neighbors by putting yellow flowers around the yard. (If it gets a little warmer today we might have some dandelions pop up.)

  1. when I was in grade school back in NYC every May 1 us kids had to dance around the May Pole at school. Then I moved to Latvia and May 1 there is Labor Day and is an official holiday but the only ones celebrating are the old school Russians who miss the Soviet days. Now I am back in the U.S. and even though I am not celebrating today I am going to give honor to May by going for a walk on the beach Saturday.
