First Supermoon of the year – Sky Sunday

This weekend we had a spectacular astronomical phenomenon: the Super Moon. It is about that period when the natural satellite of the Earth appears larger and brighter than usual. When this phenomenon occurs, the Moon appears 14% higher and 30% brighter. The Super Moon is a phenomenon that occurs when two conditions are met: The Moon is at the perigee, at the point of orbit where the distance between Earth and its satellite is the smallest; and also the moon is full. The next time the two conditions for the appearance of a Super Moon will be met will be over a month, more precisely on March 9th. The Super Moon on February 9 is the first of four that will take place in 2020.

Tonight the moon was yellow and brighter than I saw it yesterday!  It was wonderful.
