Facts about the coronavirus

We are hearing many different things. To get the facts I am sharing today I went to the Center for the Disease Control and Prevention Website. I think it is the most reliable source I was able to find. Here are a few of the things I learned.

We need to cough correctly! We should be wearing a shirt with sleeves, bend the elbow and cough into the bend in the elbow. Remove the shirt and was immediately after removal.

How does the virus spread? Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) What I found interesting about this was on the news I heard 5 feet. I try to stay away from people in general, but I am not sure having food delivered to the house is any safer. You have no idea who is loading it and what precautions they did or didn’t take.

How does the virus travel? Via respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. You are most likely to infect others when you are the most symptomatic. Wash your hands and face with warm soapy water often.

“Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common in many different species of animals, including camels, cattle, cats, and bats. Rarely, animal coronaviruses can infect people and then spread between people such as with MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV, and now with this new virus (named SARS-CoV-2).”
