In America, there are certain movies or TV shows that come on television once a year and it has almost become like a tradition to watch those movies with family and friends. Or … if you’re like me, you watch them by yourself because nobody in your family is interested in continuing the tradition. LOL. Indulging in my childhood memories is my way of enjoying the holidays. Here is my list of movies/TV shows that we (my siblings, my mom and me) used to watch every year.

Is there a particular movie or TV show that has become a tradition for you to watch during a holiday season?

Yes

No

There is always a funny television show that recaps all the happenings of the year, it is broadcasted in the last day of the year and I tend to watch it.
My husband is a TV hogger. Fortunately for me, I can watch a lot of stuff on my laptop. LOL.
The Great pumpkin
Its a wonderful life
The Grinch (both the Jim Carey, and the original cartoon)
The Santa Claus.
Every year!
Do you know that “It’s a Wonderful Life”, when I was growing up I never watched the whole movie? I only caught a few scenes. Finally, when I grew up I got a chance to watch the entire movie. Now I know why many people made that movie a holiday tradition. As for The Grinch, the original cartoon is my favorite.
i love Its a Wonderful Life. the first person that showed me the movie was my grandfather. He and I watched it on Christmas Eve.
We haven’t done so for a couple of years but our family used to watch either “Blazing Saddles” or “National Lampoon’s Animal House” after Thanksgiving dinner.
Oh! Thanksgiving movies? Not so much. There were football games and my brothers took over the TV. So I never got into the habit of watching a particular movie for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Apart from the Chicago Cubs, we don’t really watch any sports at our house. We never got into it.
We have no such traditions beside I am not a good movie watcher. I hope you know what I mean 🙂
As for me, if it weren’t for movies, I’d have no life at all. LOL. It was a safe form of entertainment. My mother always knew where I was.
I used to watch movies in my younger days but after the birth of our daughter we stopped going to movies as she did not like the darkness.
Later we lost the interest.
My husband stopped going out to the movies a long time ago. I used to take my kids to the movies. But the last time I took them to a theatre it was a Batman movie. It was an extremely loud movie loaded with special effects. The noise really affected one of my children. He couldn’t sit in the theater because of the sound. That was the last time for me going out to the movies. After that, if any of my other kids wanted to go to the movies they went with friends.
I watch a lot of Christmas shows I have enjoyed for many years like the Grinch, Miracle on 34th Street and many others
“White Christmas” has a special significance to me because growing up in Miami, Florida, I never saw snow. That last scene in the movie with the snow falling is etched in my brain.
I love that scene also and have it on video. Living in Florida now I miss white Christmases
Not so much any more, but there used to be many with Dustin.
I understand. I come from a big family and watch a lot of TV with my siblings and then when I had my kids, I watched with them. (Dustin? I believe this is the first time you ever mentioned his name. The healing continues.)
