Europa League 2020 Quarterfinals ~ 8/10/20

The UEFA Europa League Quarterfinals begins today in Germany.  Two matches will be played today while two more matches will be played on Tuesday.  Due to the pandemic, the quarterfinals will not have two legs; every match for the rest of the tournament is a one-off.  The matches will be played in two stadiums in Germany.  Here is the schedule for today.

Manchester United vs Copenhagen – 3 PM EST (RheinEnergieStadion, Koln) (UniMas, CBS All Access).

Inter Milan vs Bayer Leverkusen – 3 PM EST (Merkur Spiel-Arena, Dusseldorf) (CBS All Access).

The intrigue about both of these matches is that Copenhagen and Leverkusen, which are considered the underdogs,  have a home-field advantage with the matches being played in Germany.  However, there are no fans for these matches.  Also, Inter Milan versus Leverkusen is the better match, but the Manchester United game is being shown on TV because they are more well-known worldwide than the other three teams combined.

    • Man U should win easily even though it’s tied now at halftime. For Bayer Leverkusen, I sort of want them to lose because Bayer bought Monsanto. Bayer receives money if Leverkusen advances, so I do not want them to luck into some money. Plus, if Leverkusen does not win the Europa League, then their best player, Kai Havertz will go play for Chelsea. Then, Leverkusen would stay mediocre for the next 10 years. He is that talented. He has scored a goal already, but Inter is up 2-1 at half.
