Sharing a photo I took at the state park. I spotted two Eurasian Collared Doves in one of the top limbs of a park tree. I snapped this photo with my phone. Could not get any closer as I could not climb the tree. They are the same type I get in my yard and deck. And since the park is only a few miles from my home, I am not surprised they are the same species.
Love seeing these big doves anywhere. I just recently started seeing this species. Usually I only have the mourning dove, which is one of my favorites for their sound. Over the winter I saw these doves for the first time at my deck feeder and what, at first, looked like white doves. But they are a light gray with a black band around their neck. A lot bigger than the mourning dove as well. I was so excited to welcome them to my yard. So that is why I quickly could identify them in the park.
Nature is never ending on what it has to offer all of us. Just look around.

Thank you very much, I love nature as you know.
Take some time to enjoy nature when possible.
In our land we have pigeons, but they are less and less.
Yes we have them too, in the city. I never see them in my yard.
We have pigeons … I did not even know that there are several types of pigeons
Yes we have them too, in the city. I never see them in my yard. I prefer the doves.
They were very big with us … now crows appeared and they were throwing away pigeons
We have a lot of crows in the fields around us.
But the pigeons do not fear the crows? They are not being persecuted
As for the pigeons, they wouldn’t want any contact with crows. Sure, they might be in the same area where the crows hang out but they won’t do anything that would bother the crows. Obviously, pigeons are intelligent. They know that crows can easily hurt a pigeon.
I am not good at identifying birds … or flowers :/
so I’m not sure … I do know a few of the common ones like mynah and sparrows …
You could learn a lot on this site but some are not as interested as I am. I never used to be but the more I learn the more I want to learn.
It must be a pleasure and entertainment that is pleasing to you, Carol. We have several types of pigeons in my country but I don’t really remember how many and what kind they are.
In the last few years I have really gotten interested in bird watching. And the more I learn about new birds the more I seek out. I think it’s a good thing to keep my mind occupied.
Yes, I realize that your interest in birds is very positive for you.
