Sharing a photo from my spring garden last year. The daffodils are one of the first blooms to appear. The yellow is like sunshine. A happy flower. And these are perennials. They last all spring and then return the following spring.
A little trivia to share about daffodils…
- Daffodils are both deer resistant and rodent proof, as these animals do not like the taste of the bulbs in the Narcissus family.
- Daffodils are also poisonous to pets so make sure your animals don’t eat them.
- Daffodils are a March brith flower.
Daffodils, That come before the swallow dares, and take. The winds of March with beauty. ~William Shakespeare, The Winter’s Tale

I’m waiting for them to bloom in the garden where I work to take pictures
I love daffodils, reminds me of Wordsworth
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
I dream of them like him .
i love the flower – i think we need more color on Virily!!!!!
I also have daffodils in the garden … it is a very beautiful flower, dear Carol
They are like a ray of sunshine my friend.
It also reminds me of the sun, dear friend
I have daffodils in the garden. If it’s so warm, daffodils will soon bloom.
I love seeing these sunshine blooms!
So pretty, I didn’t know these things!
Thanks, it is interesting to research what is around you.
When I first arrived in Cape Town which is one of South Africa’s most beautiful cities I lived next to an old couple who grew daffodils in their garden.
What a delightful plant. I wrote a poem about it but I lost it somehow. Nevertheless the memories were awesome…
How good to see you my friend. You should try re-writing the poem. Would love to read it.
