Kim started a new color this week for her Color Crazy Challenge. NEON.
Today I took another walk in the woods. I met this green insect. I immediately remembered Kim’s challenge.
I did a little internet browsing and found that this bug is called golden bronze.
Golden bronze is a large beetle with a beautiful body color: the chitinous coating has an emerald green color with a metallic tinge. Mostly the color of chitin is light green, at a certain angle a copper, purple, saddle, or gold-tone appears.
Golden bronze is a slow insect, active only in sunny weather. The rest of the time the beetles sit motionless on the bushes and the trees, when they fall to the ground, become numb, so they cannot turn and fly. It is most commonly found in gardens and forests with diseased old trees.

Incredibly macro. Excellent photo for this challenge
Thank you so much, Elenka. After a long time, I managed to make a great picture.
we see these they are quite neon! sadly the world allows bugs like this to move around the world by simply sitting on a box that ends up on a ship or airplane.
You are right. The world allows everything. I experienced a lot in my long-time business career.
🙂 so did I! it is always interesting to me, what we humans move without even paying attention.
in the US the everglades now has a python problem. The snakes are released pets and are killing off native species. This reduces the food in the ecosystem for natural predators.
I don’t understand people some times.
Great picture, dear Vidocka ….. I’ve seen such a beetle before, I just didn’t know its name
Thank you, Lado. Now you know his name.
I hope I remember it too…..
We found some in a dead tree. I never its name not until.I read your post. Thanks.
I also photographed this bug on a dead tree. They prefer to stay here.
You have given a nice description. The beetle deserves it as it is rare.
Thank you very much for your kind words. The beetle is really rare.
Wow this one reminds me of the Japanese beetle I posted!
You are right. The two beetles are very similar.
That’s such a great capture! I have seen it before but I wasn’t sure about the name.
Thank you, Ellie. I also didn’t know the name of this bug until now.
