A few years ago at this time of the year, we would have been the busiest family caroling and participating in carol choir competitions. Both our boys play a few instruments our younger one is a vocalist too. There would be invites from churches and educational institutions to come and sing.
Corporate houses too would invite us from time to time to come and spread the Christmas cheer. However, as the boys grew up and became busy with their academic pursuits we have slowly stopped taking up offers. This picture was taken in a university campus where our choir sang.
I love the fact that every ornament that was hung there was handmade by the students. The grounds stretched for about a kilometer or more and every tree there was decorated. There was a blazing fire too around which we had dinner. The proceeds from the dinner sales went to some charity. It was one of my special caroling memories.

Enjoy the holidays my friend.
Thank you Carol and I wish you the same.
Such sweet memories and beautiful decorations! I can’t sing at all, haha.
I am not a great singer either, but I am a good organizer and get the kids to do what we need to do.
That is a great memory which is worthy remembering in the years to come and that the proceeds went to a charity course.
That is the true joy of Christmas.
We did not go caroling but both my sister and I were in the church choir
Christmas for me is the most important event in my life.
I am sure it was dear Grace. I love the excitement and joy this season brings.
we often went caroling when we lived in Indiana. Not as much since moving to Maryland. For the same reasons you list, our kids got older!
That is nice to hear Doc, but it is really tough to keep up when the kids grow up. The good musicians in our choir have also moved out, so the choir doesn’t sound as good as before. 🙁
that is the sad reality of time. sometimes it is enough to make a joyous noise, sometimes the ear wants more!
I will miss my older son at Christmas. It will be the first time he won’t be with us during this season.
my oldest daughter worked at Christmas time over the past five years. We would go to see my mother in Indiana, and she couldn’t. We had two years without her at Christmas.
I know what you are feeling. I am so sorry. It hurts. Mom/dad never want the kids not where we are at holidays.
