In this tropical country, especially in the rural areas, the banana leaf is an important ingredient when it comes to cooking. We have lots of snack food that use the banana leaf for a wrap. Old folks say that the banana leaf gives flavor to the rice cake or to the yam.
There are banana farms specifically for the leaves. Any wet market has banana leaves for sale not only in the rural areas but even in the cities. That goes to show that banana leaves is an industry from the farming to the transporting and to the selling. However, when the leaves of a banana plant is cut, don’t expect it to bear fruits anymore.

I have seen banana plant
I’ve never tasted food cooked with banana leaves but I would definitely try it. We don’t find banana leaves here, only the fruit.
I have never seen a banana plant, tree, bush at all.
