My family is going on a short trip for about 4-5days… and our plants will be left unattended …
We’ve tried a few ways to try make a “auto-watering system” with bottles and strings. We also tried tying plastic on the opening and then poking little holes and then placing it right on top of the soil… but it seems they worked only for a while and then the water hardly flows…
I know there are many green thumbs here, anyone have any good suggestions?
thanks in advance
*Note: we can’t have stagnant water left open becuase we’ve dengue zika and malaria here (I personally gotten dengue before and it sucks!)

Something bad usually happens to my automatic watering system when I leave it unattended. For example, one time a good friend came by and turned it off.
I think Albert might have the right idea. A small air hole on the top might work. A neighbor would work best. The drip irrigation is also a great idea.
Yeah… too bad neighbor is out of the question.
I’ll try the air hole 🙂
I’m using a neighbor …I leave her the key from the house,so she watering flowers.
Too bad for me, neighbor is out of the question
thanks for your suggestion though 🙂
I see it is like a watering system for hydroponic plants, and good. Have you made a small hole (maybe you can pierce it with a needle) on the top of the bottle to let air in?
Another suggestion is that you can use a hose that you give a hole so that water can drip on each plant.
Yeah, I’ll try that… the air hole at the top…
hopefully it works!
Thanks for your help 🙂
You are welcome, my friend.
I use irrigation via a bottle when I’m not at home in flower pots.
How do you do that? We tried a few things but doesn’t seem to work very well.
I use the kind you have in the photo.
Could you elaborate a little?
Is that a pipe you stuck deep into the soil or…?
