The first round of the Sun Belt Conference (SBC) Men’s Basketball Championship presented by First Bank and Trust will be played on Saturday. Only the top ten teams in the conference qualified for this tournament, so Troy and Louisiana-Monroe received an early vacation.
For the first three rounds, the games will be played on the home courts of the higher-seeded teams. The semifinals and the final will be played at the Smoothie Center in New Orleans. The top two seeds, Arkansas-Little Rock and South Alabama receive a triple bye into the semifinals.
Here is the first round schedule. These teams did not play real good basketball this season, but their team nicknames are pretty cool.
#9 Arkansas State (ASU) Red Wolves at #8 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns – Noon EST.
#10 Coastal Carolina (CCU) Chanticleers at #7 Texas-Arlington (UTA) Mavericks – 3 PM EST.
