The Maui Invitational has been exciting so far as three of the teams that were favored to win lost in the quarterfinals on Monday. Dayton blasted Georgia 80-61 as the Flyers gave the Bulldogs an aerial assault led by Obi Toppin’s 25 points.
Next, Virginia Tech pulled off the biggest upset of the day by defeating the #3 Michigan State Spartans 71-66 even though they were outrebounded 43-27. The final upset of the day was BYU throttling UCLA 78-63. The only game in this tournament that went as expected was Kansas defeating Chaminade by 30.
For the semifinal games, Dayton will play Virginia Tech and Kansas will play BYU.

What sport is this? I’m assuming basketball – one sport that I find to be boring in the extreme! The same thing happens time after time, apart from frequent stops for committee meetings!
Yes, this is basketball, and it is the world’s most-rising sport at this time due to clever marketing by the NBA except for the China fiasco by Daryl Morey. However, it is still followed mainly by Americans. If you want to talk about a boring sport, then look at soccer. I’m watching Real Madrid against PSG, but I am still having no problem of typing this comment without missing anything. Actually, the most boring sports are cricket and baseball because batting is the toughest thing to accomplish in sports.
Take me down to upset city!!!
wow! It is the time of teams coming together or coming apart!
I love it. I thought that Crean would go against Izzo in the semifinal game and not in the consolation semifinal game. I’m watching the end of Georgia/Michigan State now. Michigan State losing to Virginia Tech means that the Big Ten will be wide open during the winter.
i think Izzo is still pulling the pieces together. I think the Big Ten is pretty much MSU, Michigan and OSU. the rest of the teams are outside looking in.
