I actually tried this method before I bought my manual frother from Sur La Table store.
I have also tried using a blender and a Magic Bullet to froth my milk, which is also good. And, I agree that real animal milk tends to froth better than vegan milk. But they both work and they are both good.
I like my frother as it warms it was well.
