I do not care for the expression rule of thumb because of what it was historically. The rule was husbands were allowed by law to beat their wives but with a stick no bigger around than the husband’s thumb. Sick.

Well my Runt the cat has the thumb on both his front (mitten) paws.
2 weeks ago, I groomed a cat that had 7 on each front, and 6 on the backs.
