wander project Hawaii redux!

We spent a week on Lanai. Lanai is perhaps most famous as it was once the original Dole Pineapple Plantation. It, Lanai, is sometimes called Pineapple Island. There are two resorts on the island, one near the horses (where we stayed) and the other on the beach. Although, we wandered to the Beach several times and most of the overall events were held at the beach hotel. We also walked along the beach and explored the island.

One night we also took a boat back to Maui, and landing on the far side of Maui had dinner. During the cleanup of Pearl Harbor (during WWII) the area was visited was a frequent location for US Navy Shore Leave. It was a place that my Father-in-law had requested during the war. He was in the US Navy Pacific, during WWII. It was fun to wander the shore leave places that he had traveled to all those years before.

We also got to hang out and just be a couple again for a few days. That, being a couple, wouldn’t happen again for a few years while the kids were growing up. Now, we are often allowed to sneak off and be a couple, but when the kids were young, we were mostly dependent on my parent’s ability to watch the kids. They did, and could, often, but there were few opportunities. That meant when we did we enjoyed our time as much s we could!
