It is at the same time hard and easy to write about Lithuania, as it is my native country. All my life I live here. Although Lithuania is a small region, it is distinguished by the uniqueness and diversity of nature: plains, hills, forests, lakes, and swamps, waving Baltic Sea and white dunes, the beautiful Curonian Spit. And most importantly, naturalness, uncontaminated and refreshing weather are preserved in Lithuania.
There are no high mountains – wherever you look, you will see flowering meadows, dense forests, fertile fields of cereals. However, everyone who comes here is surprised by the abundance of mounds, on which once there were plenty of magnificent castles, where ancient Lithuanians burned altars for pagan gods.
Lithuania is a particularly watered region with more than 3000 different lakes, a bunch of rivers and even Baltic sea. There are not many islands or peninsulas in Lithuania. But those we have – Rusnaya Island and the Curonian Spit Peninsula – are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
I will not describe what you can visit here. Just come to Klaipėda, my beloved city, my home – the port of Minor Lithuania, located on the site of the Curonian Spit and the Baltic Sea. Such is Lithuania. With its pluses, minuses, distinct world perceptions and identity. It is hard not to fall in love with this country.
