Osogovo Monastery

Osogovo Monastery “Saint Joachim of Osogovo” is an Orthodox monastery in the Republic of Macedonia, part of the Bulgarian historical heritage in the region.

It is located about 3 km from the town of Kriva Palanka at the foot of the Osogovo Mountain, in the Babin Dol area.

In the life of Saint Joachim Osogovsky, it is stated that during the Byzantine Emperor Manuel Komin (1143-1180) the priest Theodore of Shepherd, the monk named Theophan, founded the monastery and buried in the monastery church the relics of the saint.

The monastery is mentioned for the first time in the time of the Bulgarian Tsar Kaloyan (1196-1207).
