Gunung Kawi Temple in Bali

Gunung Kawi is an 11th-century temple located in Tampaksiring north east of Ubud in Bali. Here you can see the splendor of the temple carved in the side of the cliff, the beauty of the green rice paddies, river, thick jungle and the bridge. Gunung Kawi is one of Bali’s largest ancient temple complexes which has a very beautiful scenery and the incredible tranquility of nature.

To reach the temple location, you have to go through about 315 stairs to go down. Then through a rock cliff that is perforated square-shaped as the entrance. Gunung Kawi is also known as one of Bali’s unique archaeological sites that spread across either side of the Pakerisan river. When I first visited Gunung Kawi Temple, I was like drifting round time back to the past. Staring at the stone walls with the square holes shape from the past, shaping my knowledge of the spiritual meaning of Balinese society. The atmosphere is very cool, calm and peace standing in the midst of historical and natural heritage.

If you like tour to the archaeological place and has a high historical value, I highly recommend visiting this place while you holiday in Bali.
