The last time we heard from Elon Musk in the news, he was smoking on the Joe Rogan podcast last September. Unfortunately, the weed has gone to his brain because he has announced that he is working on a new project called Neuralink.
Neuralink is looking to solve paralysis by using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology by placing a microchip inside of a person’s brain. The chip would then send out pulses that would mimic the signals of a normal person’s nervous system. Placing a microchip in someone’s brain would definitely invade someone’s privacy, but everyone’s privacy has been taken anyway if you are on a computer or a cell phone. Fortunately, this project has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
A lot of neutrons inside the brain are dependant on biochemistry of the brain and it is so much more than the electrical impulse of the brain.
Well, you probably need to tell Elon Musk, your Commonwealth compatriot from South Africa, to probably nix this project because that is what they were talking about in the video.
honestly, I don’t see how hardware designed to mimic neural firing could compromise their privacy. even if it had a wireless connection (and this isn’t called out) which was broadcasting, all you’d get is “Neuron 0x3fd93a fired at 13:22:05” and that isn’t useful to anyone
For example, the hardware’s serial number could be assigned to each person they would implant in someone’s head for medical reasons if the implant causes an adverse reaction. Also, a GPS locator could be placed within the implant in the same way that a cell phone is required by law to mark the latitude and the longitude of each call is made in case somebody calls in an emergency situation. I just think that this project is sketchy because Elon Musk, who is a known attention-getter, has been intentionally out of the news for 10 months.
Elon Musk has a cure? I think that’s highly unlikely; but what do I know?
his success rate isn’t what I would call confidence inspiring. he never sticks with anything long enough to see it through… nanobots which repair damaged nerves would probably be a better way to go
