#17 Minnesota Golden Gophers remained undefeated at 9-0 with a 31-26 upset over the #4 Penn State Nittany Lions at the TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Penn State also attempted to remain undefeated, but Gophers defensive back Jordan Howden intercepted a Sean Clifford pass in the end zone with about a minute to go in order to secure the victory.
This game was decided on turnover differential because Minnesota did not have any turnovers, while Clifford threw three interceptions for the day. With the win, Minnesota is now in the driver’s seat with a two-game lead in the Big Ten West Division. Penn State must regroup quickly because they can only win the Big Ten East Division with a victory over Ohio State.
People can get very serious about these games.
Yes, there is a sense of community pride when the local team wins. Minnesota is 9-0 for the first time in over 100 years.
This Gopher team is serious! I hope if they make it to the B10 Championship they bring it! What would be interesting is if Penn State seals the east, and Minnesota seals the west then we can watch them go at it again. Seems like a even playing field too being in Indy for B10 Championship.
I wouldn’t mind a rematch at all, but Ohio State is running roughshod over everyone. Ohio State is so good that the NCAA banned DE Chase Young for taking a loan.
And that whole situation is ridiculous. I do hope that Ohio State wins it all! I do feel that they can hold their own against teams outside of the Big 10. I will be watching Minnesota closely now that they took out Penn State.
