In a preliminary bout yesterday in Moscow, Russia, welterweight Danny Roberts knocked out Zelim Imadaev at the CSKA Arena. The KO happened in the waning seconds of the second round, a round that Roberts was dominating with clinch work alongside the cage. That work paid dividends because Roberts backed off Imadaev to put the fight back into the center of octagon.
Roberts set up Imadaev with a low kick. Then, the southpaw changed levels by going back up with a one-two of a right jab and a left hook. That left hook found Imadaev’s chin for a stunning knockout. At the very least, John Travolta cannot pronounce Zelim Imadaev’s name (Adeel Tazeem!)
